The BAKW.....

Well,
here she is....
the
Big A@* Kitchen Window.

She's a she,
because of her prominent curves....
and
they are BIG,
like mine.

She is the defining feature of the
kitchen in our condo.

We have lived here for almost
5 years now....

When we saw her for the first time.
I nearly cried.
She (the condo)
had been badly neglected.
Her carpet was torn and stained.
Her tile was cracked and loose.
Her cabinets were, original
(she was built in 1972)
She looked decrepit.

We have replaced carpet
in bedrooms,
put hardwood on the main level
painted every surface.
 Really.
When we gutted the kitchen,
we made it clear to the contractor,
that we had priced a new window,
and that he would probably want to be
very careful around it, as the custom window
would run around $9000,
no kidding....

So,
the kitchen is wonderful now.
And as mentioned previously,
I am blessed with women in my life,
that come by for conversation,
and tea, or coffee, or sweet tea....

And
we
sit at the kitchen table
in front of the
BAKW.

Sometimes,
conversations that are difficult,
are easier when
there is something to look at
outside of ourselves.
Something that allows us
to say the unspeakable....
I have noticed this affect
on people that sit in front of
the BAKW.

They "Blurt out all over the place".....
as one of them explained to me....
She was amazed that
things that seemed to be locked in
her head forever....
jumped out....when she sat there
with cup in hand.

Maybe it's magic....

It is coated with some sort of
UV protective film, not
really reflective but which
that tends to make looking in
difficult, unless it is night ,
and the lights are shining bright
inside.

There is a bird feeder
and a hummingbird feeder
right there within 3 feet of the window.
The birds rarely notice those inside.
Only if we move, or are too loud...

This is also my favorite
place to photograph
products,
food,
jewelry,
vintage finds,
treasures found,
and
treasures kept....
and
Tomatoes!

Again,
I know how lucky I am
to have this BAKW...
she makes me smile.

Ah....it's almost spring!

I just love weddings that take place outside.

The natural light is good for everyone...

But most especially anyone who is wearing white.

A bit of tan doesn't hurt either.

This wedding took place

years ago on the beach front at Hilton Head.

Simple music,

small crowd,

happy people,

lovely people,

and

no rain...

Couldn't ask for more.

smiles.

Not sure about this...

I don't think that I have ever posted with out a photo...
Usually, the photo inspires me...
But I am at the beach...
(big smiles)
and on someone Else's' laptop,
guess I could use one of their photos..
It's raining..
cool....
and we are just about to head out to the
"Piggily Wiggily"
I just love...
no LOVE typing that.....
What a great name for a grocery store!
We went there last night,
to one of the older stores....
and bought food..
BUT
the real mission today is to
buy a couple of
T-shirts....
As soon as I get home I will
post a photo of these shirts...
and the place you can buy them...
Big Smiles!
Hope your day is good...

How Fun!....

Who knew?
that my water fountain could be so much fun!
I was lucky enough to have two very special guests
several days ago...
they arrived with their mother...
and actually knew exactly what they wanted to do
while at my house....
(big smiles...)
they had seen my patio water fountain
during their last visit..
and it was calling to them from afar...
But the minute they stepped out of the
car they arrived in....
they made a bee-line for the FUN!
Well.....I had to laugh..
and the activity was pretty much non stop
for the next couple of hours...
(I had forgotten how much energy you need to be a parent)
We got wet..
We laughed...
We had snacks...
We watched "Nemo"....
we got tired...
we cried when we had to leave....
sniff....
but it was FUN!!!
smiles.

Happy thoughts....

Well....I am doing my best to have those happy thoughts...
Two miserable days of the "24 hour bug".....
(ie; vomiting)
have left me searching for something to smile about.
No..it's not SWINE FLU!
Every concerned phone caller inquires, so..
I am much better now.
(sounds like a quote from Monty Python)
Really I am.
no more flights to the toilet.
no more dry toast
no more regular Coke
(which I can only stomach when sick, is there a message here?)
Yep, I am just about wellish...
So I dug thru some old photos, so I could either smile
or cry, I am not sure which.
This is an old Polaroid of my son when he was about 2,
sittin on a very beautiful horse at the Colonial Cup
in Camden, SC (1990?).
He was so proud to be up there,
and well, it makes me smile and cry.
