gratitude......

Today....
I am grateful.
Some of the angels in my life came over
and brought...
GIFTS!
in the way of dinner....
Oh my how I do love gifts,
but most especially the ones that you can eat.
Love went into every part of this.
Salad makings....including toppings and poppy seed dressing
(from Trader Joe's no less....)
Pasta...fresh, even...
sweet veggies to toss with the pasta and olive oil...
A beautiful bottle of wine.
ROSES, pink....my favorite!
Tea and sweets....
and the very best of all..
(I know, because I am eating some right now)
homemade Pumpkin bread!!!
What could be better than all of this
brought to us on a cool rainy fall day!

I told you there were angels..
smiles.

The times they are a changin'.....

This photo has absolutely nothing to do with the topic,
I just wanted to look at it....

Now, to the changin' times...
Do you live in the town you grew-up in?
Or, have you visited the town of your childhood, lately?
Have you noticed that many of the buildings that you used as
landmarks are gone?
Familiar streets no longer look so familliar?
The fabulous example of a long ago designed architecture
has been leveled...
The old roller skating rink, complete with creaky wooden floors...gone.
Even your elementary school doesn't even look the same?
What is happening people?!

Well.....I have been told
"Welcome to late middle age!"
Holy AARP, Batman!
I am not ready to be sitting at my
dinner table with friends
saying things like
"Remember the old saw mill down the road from the A&P?"

Nope,
I just can't see me doing that.....
so, I will photograph the places of my youth...
while they still exist,
and hope that the
world slows down just a bit....

Old smiles....

09 November 2009

It is a sad day indeed.....

I am totally dismayed....
a little "p-o-ed",
and simply disheartened at the
announcement that
is joining the long list of publications that are
biting the dust...
I hate that!
There is almost nothing that can turn my dull afternoon
into a bright evening, quicker than
a trip to the mailbox and
finding a brand new magazine....
and MH was one of the very best....
period.
It inspired my adoration of modern furniture,
"mid-century modern" as it is now
labeled.
I loved the dedication to fabulous
no FABULOUS photography,
and an extra wide format that it
boasted for many years.
It is a very sad day in the life of this
52 year old.
I love the "net",
but there is nothing as comforting on a
wet, rainy day
as curling up with a real work of art
which this magazine was....
I hope the bleeding stops soon,
Domino....very sad.
MH....sick.
no smiles today.
