As seen on TV....

I wrote about my camera obsession
this morning on my other blog...
and well...
even though I am not
hugely excited about shedding some of
my collection.
The space is needed...
and so it goes..
You can find them
Collections are funny...
it is so easy to spill over
from collection to
obsession...
and past that to
just plain ol' crazy...

Rainy days and Fridays......wait!

Sort of a rainy day...
and usually I would find myself
glued to the desk....my computer....and
100's, literally, of images to "tweak".
But today,
instead I went to a huge fabric store,
called "Mary Jo's".
My mother called this morning
and wanted me to go along for the ride....
funny,
as I drove us over,
about 45 minutes away,
I was reminded of
the dozens of trips we have taken to
Mary Jo's over the years.
No lie, dozens....
Well, I am 52 yrs old,
and she started taking my brother and me
when we were small children.
Back then, it was located in a different location,
the current store is unbelievable.....really.
As I have gotten older,
I appreciate these trips with my mother
so much.
As a child, I hated them.
There is not a lot for a grade schooler to do in a
big ol' fabric store.
Now....
well I have a ton of things to look at,
dream about,
envision,
create a plan...
well, you know.
AND
to top it all off, I get to spend time with my mother,
without anyone else needing our attention.
My mother is sweet as she can be,
and loves sweet fabric,
calicoes,
small little sweet prints,
traditional quilt designs.
I, on the other hand,
have always been drawn to the
upholstery fabrics,
wild prints,
toiles,
velvets,
stripes,
mid-century modern prints,
well,
decidedly not sweet.
So we go our own way when we hit the door,
and then later compare while driving home.
We are always diplomatic while
being shown the other's purchases,
but in our minds,
I am quite sure that we both are thinking
"What was she thinking?"

Fall Blooms....

There are certain things that just make you smile.
Fall Blooms,
who wouldn't smile at this bee
climbing all over the excessive pollen found on this
Camellia blossom?
Just the idea of scurrying from one bloom to another...
gathering the stocks that help survival
through the winter
months...
Isn't that what we would be doing if
we weren't so spoiled by all the
"creature comforts" of living in modern society?
Don't
get
me
wrong...
I
love,
love,
love,
said comforts...
Really I do.
But
I also
have a sort of primal
reaction to fall.
One where I have the impulse to
reorganize,
gather,
store,
maybe even...
hoard...
(hard to admit that...)
But I think it must be
stored deep within our DNA
that instinct to prepare for the
cold months.
What do you think?

Apparently...

I am not supposed to venture forth today....
My horoscope says;

Leo
Your pride may take a little bruising today,
so expect a bit of trouble from those who don't get you.
It's a good day to pull back from the unknown
and focus on what's most comfortable.
Well...
no one really "gets" me....
so,
I pretty much should stay in bed or
the recliner (opps, don't have one...)
all day.
My pride
well ,.....there is a long story...
one I don't think I'll start right here...
but suffice to say that my pride
is not a good thing to mess with...
it frightens me sometimes.
Especially when all of a sudden,
out of no where
something comes up that
Rocks my boat....
So....
here I am bloggin'
sorry if you don't
"get" me...
but my guess is
if you are here....
you do..
smiles.

Fall is falling...

Fee.....Fii.....Foe.....Fum....
I see the fall
coming in my field of view....
I sort of hate see summer flowers
go to seed...
But I love
dearly love the fall leaves...
smiles.
