ugh~

I simply love
Pinterest.

This is a fact.

I might have a problem....

this too is a fact.

I made the mistake of
making Pinterest
my
home
page.....

Yes,
know.

bad idea.

Every morning
when I sit down to do some
work...

Well,
I'm sure you are all
nodding your heads by now....

I have neglected
my blogs,
my house,
my laundry,
my mouse, (mac)
my plants,
my friends,
my family,
my yard,
my office
(which, is right over my shoulder.....glaring at me)
my hair,
my cameras (^%$*!)

Yes,
I am truly
"Pinhead"....

there I said it....

I'm off to google
for a 12 step program
for
"Pinheads"...

Let's just keep this between the
two of us, ok?

thanks

smiles...

on the other hand...
if you'd like to join me....

you can find me

Actually,
this image has absolutely nothing to do with
this post,
but I hate leaving a post photo-less.

The other side of things....

While watching the world with the eye of a photographer,
you might just find that you look at things
in a rather different way
than your average observer.....

I find that I look
at the back of things....
sneaking around the corner to
glimpse the un-observed....

Isn't it lovely the way the fading pedals
are turning deeper pink....
and the golden center at the inside
glows through to the back?

Much more interesting to see things from a
different point of view,
wouldn't you say?

smiles....

So Talented......

This takes about 5 minutes to watch....
it is fascinating!

Also, Wondering....the music was the theme music to a TV show,
PBS, I think.....
and for the life of me.... I cannot
recall which one....

Can anyone help me out here?

Enjoy!
Happy Weekend....

More BAKW....people movers...

Just call me
OO2.5
not even close to a spy....
not even close to discreet...
not even close to the action....
Well, I am having fun...

So....
here is something I have learned...
(with apologies to those who haven't read my last post, check it out)
I have learned that
a good portion of what it takes to
film a movie/TV show
entails....
moving people around.

These passenger vans
seem to be everywhere in our neighborhood.
Most of them are empty.
Except for the drivers that sit, in one place,
for long stretches of time.....
They read the paper (above)....

Occasionally, the load up with one or two passengers
and move out...

Then the next one in line moves forward
to right in front of the condo
where they are shooting scenes.......

Sometimes,
they get out of the van to stretch their legs...
chit-chat with the other drivers...

Maybe get a cup of coffee from the
"commissary truck"
(that's what I am calling it)

Then without notice,
they are off!
With someone, who maybe famous...
or not.

Sometimes,
someone from "inside"
comes to the driver to talk....
wonder what they are discussing?
Lunch, probably.

Oops!
I have been spotted...
(hope they don't ask me to stop)

Not by this guy, anyway...
he's smiling..

And so the afternoon
drones on...
ever so quietly...
really, these people know how to be quiet.
I could go outside right now,
and if I closed my eyes,
I would swear that they had disappeared...

But, no..
I can't seem to drag myself away from my
BAKW!
Camera ready for
Claire Danes to show up,
turn around,
and wave to me with a great big.....
smile!

The Trevi Fountain.....people watching

If you have never been there....go!
If you don't want to....go anyway...
There is simply no place like Rome...
Really.

The Trevi Fountain is a very famous landmark,
and it seems that everyone who visits
feels the need to document with a photo of the fountain.

But as I stood there a few years ago,
what I noticed is the people,
lots of people,
all doing just about the same thing.

A quiet crowd
having fun....
enjoy!

Snow Day! and a new love.....

I have a new love.....

an obsessive love....

one that transends time and space....

an unexpected love....

I love talented people,
and
often
I find
that women seldom
gain the recognition that they deserve....

I found Vivian Maier
through a link on Etsy.
A wonderful article telling an interesting tale
of film and negatives,
lost
and
found....
a mystery if you like.

I am appreciative of the fact that today
is a certified "snow day" here in my town,
and the DOT
has asked us to stay home,
if we don't have good reason to drive.

I have good reason to stay home....
and admire the work of a
woman,
gone
but no longer
forgotten......

My sweetie in Shanghai....

No...
I am not foolin' around...
my sweetie,
my love of my life,
my husband,
is in
Shanghai.

On business,
again......

4th time in less than a year.....

sick of it.....

But
the good news is that
I have rubbed off on him.

Whenever I go on a trip,
I keep my eyes open for
opportunity....
beautiful opportunity....
Weddings,
more specifically.

Check out what he snapped
(snapped as the Queen does)

I couldn't be any more proud.....
smiles.

A giveaway......Big Smiles.....!

Some of you know...
and some don't.
I have an Etsy shop,
and
 I am an Etsy addict.....
I love to peruse the pages of Etsy
looking for inspiration,
gifts, decor ideas,
you name it...

So I was very flattered when
Anne at magalerie
asked if I would like to participate in a
GIVEAWAY!
Oh yeah!
you betcha......smiles

Here are some of my favorite images from magalerie

The elegant simplicity
and simple, clean structure
grabs my attention each time.

Here's how it works.
Go to her shop
purchase an image,
and as you make your purchase,
leave her a message
first telling her that you found out about this
(My shop)
and then, which
image you would like for FREE.
That's right
Buy One Get One for free....
(same size)

Seems to me that this is an easy way to
get started on Christmas gifts.
Even if they are for yourself...
smiles.

13 September 2010

I was a guest....

and that was a good thing...

I attended a very special wedding this weekend.

I was not the photographer for this event,
but a friend of mine was....
and she was working quite hard.

It seems that the family had a friend that showed up
to shoot the wedding too.
I am not sure which side of the family,
but let's just say that this is a huge
"faux pas".
(Big mistake)

When hiring a photographer for an event such as
a wedding, it is wise to read your contract carefully,
and ask if the shooter minds someone else shooting too.
Believe me, it will already be covered in the contract.

A wedding is a very emotionally charged event.
(Duh!)

and people act strangely at times
(double Duh!)

and well.....the very last thing you want to do
is pay someone to capture the moment, and
then allow "Uncle Festus" to
get in their way
(triple-dog Duh!)

So...
there it is...a little bit of advice for all you
Baby Boomers, like me who have children,
who might just be getting married soon....
don't invest your money, and then sabotage
the whole process.

smiles...

21 July 2010

I got nothing.......really....

Perhaps it's the heat....
Maybe menopause.....
possibly, PMS......
whatever it is....
I no longer have the ability to think, write,
compose, articulate (although, I haven't stopped talking)
so
today
I post
photos
(oldies but goodies....smiles)

(love those abs!)

And finally my desktop photo...

Have a wonderful day,
and stay cool.....
many thanks to all who have commented on the
previous post "Authenticity".
I feel I have dear friends here.....smiles.
