Tis the season.....

For weddings....

you may find that you are attending
many social functions this time of year.

Graduation....
birthdays....
Showers.....
all sorts of events that require
a certain amount of social grace.

Most of these events
have been planned months in advance.

But....
the weddings that
you  attend may have been planned...
in some cases...
for years.

No kidding.

You may think I exaggerate...

but if you have never planned
a wedding, say for 250 guests....

well, you may have no idea.

When my studio was in full swing,
we booked October
(yes, the Halloween month!)
at least a year in advance.
And I mean BOOKED.
and we had to
turn girls down....
and refer them to other photographers.

The church,
the reception site,
the caterer,
the cake maker,
the florist,
and the photographer,
all of them should be booked,
contract signed,
and deposit made,
at least a year in advance.
Especially
if you plan to marry in a month
that is popular for your region.

Yes,
it is a regional thing,
the weather in my fair city is lovely in October,
so much nicer than in June,
which by the way is sweltering......
So, the dates and places go quickly.

I guess my whole point here
is this....

If you find yourself at one of these
large wedding events,
make sure to find your way to the
host and hostess
before you leave.
Thank them....
for the invitation, certainly...
but also for all the hard work,
that obviously, went into the event,
and tell them how lovely it all was....
so that they may find a moment
of peace in the chaos.

Spring nearly here!

Isn't this bracelet beautiful?
It inspired me to get moving and start working again.
I am ignoring my stuffy head right now.

is a jewelry artist.
She has been my friend for years.
We have seen husbands come and go.
Usually with great flair.
We have seen each other through
good times and bad.
My silly troubles have been very small
compared with hers.

And so,
when she called with a need
to have her spring collection photographed.
Well....
how could I possibly be sick?

Actually,
work helps me to feel better,
I think because I am not concentrating on myself.

So...
this is just a small example of her work.
I will show more as I get more done.

I have linked to her name above,
but she is not sold online,
mostly in museums, galleries, and boutiques.
One of the tabs on her sight will show you where.

Have a great Friday,
and weekend,
and again,
thank you to all who have
encouraged me through this silly head cold.
smiles.

Perspective......

I require perspective.
AND
I simply cannot acquire it in a vacuum.
I have limited ability to see my world in a realistic manner.
I have to go out into the world and see other lives.
See what they deal with....
See how they cope....
See how blessed I am by comparison.
I know that we should not compare ourselves to others...
However, as selfish as this is, it is the only way I can
come to a realization of how fortunate I am.
Yesterday.....
I was given the gift of perspective.
I went about my everyday duties.....
and there it was.
My life ROCKS,
by comparison.
I have no problems,
in reality.
When I sit at home and worry.....
I get a distorted view of my life.
Did I thank you for your kind words?
They helped, thank you.
